Lesleigh AiltsLesleigh Ailts
Hometown:
Yankton, South Dakota
Undergraduate: Creighton University
Goal for your committee: Increase membership involvement within the activities we have planned for the coming year.
Favorite Drug: Zestoretic, because it sounds much more interesting than Zestril
Why I am Involved: Learning more about diabetes and contributing to the awareness and prevention is something I have always advocated. Since I have been personally affected by diabetes, being involved means a lot to me. Others should participate to meet other pharmacy students, learn more about the committee, and stay active.

What is Operation Diabetes?

Diabetes affects the health and wellbeing of people nationwide. Currently, one in four people in the United States has diabetes, has a family member with the disease, or will develop the disease. Of the 20.8 million people in the United States with diabetes, 6.2 million of them are undiagnosed. Since its inception in 2001, student pharmacists who have participated in Operation Diabetes have screened 77,633 patients, and have referred 7,247 patients to their physician for follow up care.
